Jeremiah,

Since your car is an automatic, consider that you might have
a vacuum leak in your a/c mode switch.  When it is set to
MAX, it will send a vacuum signal to the heater control
valve.  If there is a vacuum leak in this line, then your
engine will suffer this vacuum leak.

There is also a vacuum signal going to the automatic
transmission.  Is the line in good condition?  Much of it is
supposed to be hard line.  Otherwise a flexing hose will
send a bad signal to the tranny.
