[DMCForum] Re: Glitch #182

Hi Rich.

Bummer, that those lugnuts were so seriously overtightened. That's
why I always use a torque wrench to install my lugnuts. (90 lbft, in
case your interested)

If it were my wheel, I'd spray a bunch of wd-40 into the three intact
lugnuts for a few days straight, and see if they'll come off in one
piece. I'd heat them with a propane torch if they gave me grief. If
they still didn't come off, I'd twist them until either the lugnut,
or the stud broke off.

As for the stud with the broken lugnut, well, I'd get out my drill,
and drill out the stud.

I'd probably replace all the studs, as I'd be unlikely to trust such
overstressed and/or corroded bolts ever again. They can be hammered
out pretty easily.

Nothin's ever easy.

Rick.
