it can come off 2 ways, really.  If you remove the outer hub nut, you
have to slide the bearing (and disc) off the spindle.  ALTERNATELY, you
can unbolt the inside nut (angle drive), and the whole spindle will come
out.  

Normally one way is easier than the other.  I'm not sure which.  My left
brake rotor came off with the spindle easily, the right rotor came off
the spindle easily (well, easier!).  

I have not, though imagine you could use a large gear puller to pull the
rotor/bearing off the spindle.
