[DMCForum] Re: Rich's Crumple Tube

Come on Bill! Quit flaming me just 'cause I'm a closet historian. :)

I -WANT- to repair mine. When I evaluate a problem with my car, I look
at all the possibilities. If I can reinforce mine until I can afford a
replacement that's the way I want to go. I'm just preparing for the
possibility that mine's too far gone.

Believe me, I don't want to tear things up anymore than necessary.
I've had rain for like 3 straight days or I would have posted pictures
by now.

By the way, if you have any welding skills I'll rent the damn MIG
welder and feed and house you if you'll come up and help me.

Specifically, the there are a couple of clean breaks at points that
could be re-joined with fresh metal. The top portion is drooping and
hence my radiator along with it. There is one point on the passenger
side where the steering rack mounts to that appears to have some small
movement when you turn the steering wheel. This, most importantly
needs reinforced if possible.

I'm pulling a mid-shift tonight so I'll be home today. If I can get
enough light in there for my crummy digital cam I'll get some pictures.

Rich
