I know you're Mr. Keep It Original, but let's face it: - You need to hold steering rack still - Money isn't growing on your trees YET - Existing crumple tube is eventually going to be thrown away Would it hurt to patch, reinforce, splice, and whatever else necessary to keep current tube in service for a while? The damn thing is hollow, so perhaps repairs could be made above & below. Would preserve steering geometry. If you wait for a proper crumple tube, car may be out of service for extended time.
