I wouldn't really consider your car a late '81. I guess I classify them this way; 500-3000 is early '81, 3000-5000 is mid '81, and 5000-7000 is late '81. The mid '81s have the best fit and finish of all the cars I've seen. There was a '81 black/manual for sale in greensboro, NC (VIN 3500s) a while back. There's an '83 black/manual in my neighborhood too. It's got the so called "dual color" interior though... black leather/vinyl but light grey carpets and headliners. There are also quite a few black/manual cars in the Raleigh/Durham NC area... I just don't know the owners.
