Everybody poo poo's plastic clutch line, but my truck's been running one for 196,000 miles... I'd suspect master or slave cylinder walls pitted while car sat (are just made of white metal), then scored piston seals when you started moving them again. Seals actually have very small contact surface with cylinder walls. Moreover, only thing lubricating them is brake fluid in system (cylinder walls were bone dry when pistons started moving again). My AMC uses Girling clutch htdraulics, and they have been neverending source of problems. Good to go for a year or two, then it's time for new seals. Fortunately I can buy for $15. Pump clutch pedal several times before every shift, and double clutch. You'll loose a lot of fluid, but it'll get you home. Remember car can be slam shifted too (name sounds terrible, but if you find sweet spots will slip into gears as easy as can be. Is a good thing to practice before you need it). One Christmas Eve, in Christmas Eve traffic, slam shifted AMC home from post office with clutch pedal unwelded from connecting rod, including several stop lights. If you know car well enough can start it in gear with extremely little bucking & jerking.
