Hi Stian Yes you can swap it out and let it hang on the one side, but you'll probably need a jack to lift it back up that half inch to bolt the new one in. No suspension components or anything else that's critical the structural integrity of the car should ever be made from Stainless. It's just not strong enough, unless you start gonig for exotic alloys. Well, that's what I've been told anyway! FYI Claire bought the last one "officially" available from the US 3 years ago, and that was over $100 just for one.
