³The accummulator is in the fuel line prior to the filter so any crud will
always accumulate (cough-cough) here.²
No The Accumulator has no filter in it, It may stop large bits but the
small particles of crud will pass through it. If it did accumulate in it
then it will cost you £105 for a new one and then it¹s a pig to fit. You
really want to risk it for the sake of not looking in the tank?
There are 4 sets of filters as far as I¹m aware in the system. The one on
the pickup hose in the tank, the main fuel filter, the metering head has one
on each of the 6 ports and the injectors themselves.
I¹ve seen crud miss all of main ones and block the injectors filters up just
like James¹s. You can try clean the injectors and whilst this may fix some
it wont fix them all.
Also The width of the metered slits in the fuel distributor's barrel
assembly is only 0.2 mm across. Now that¹s small. It only takes a small
amount to block them.
When was the last time most of us checked the pickup hose filter ??? If
that breaks up then it can not only kill the pump but also block the whole
system up.
Just check the tank, It¹s cheaper to lose a fuel tank of petrol than the
whole fuel system :)
If there is crap in there then clean it out of if it¹s that bad the Club has
tanks in stock.
