Found this on the DMCH website:
"One of the common parts failures on the DeLorean is the fuel tank sending unit. In addition to being a poor design, the first 4,500 or so cars built had sending units that were mis-calibrated to the gauge. DeLoreans produced after that had sending units that were far more accurate..."
Hmmm...might explain why VIN#4400's fuel gauge can sometimes be a tad erratic!
