whether the paint finish has been correctly etched primed onto the 
stainless or any damage it is covering up.

No cars were ever painted by DMC themselves, apart from a few 
paint 'test panels' that exist, i believe only a few Lotus prototypes 
mules were given any kind of paint job, again not by DMC and this by 
its VIN obviously isnt. 

If it has been painted from new then the delorean seller/dealer or 
its first owner painted it.
