Dear list,
as you can see from the email below, a car is needed for an all day
photo shoot at Beaulieu, preferably within the next 2 weeks, no fee,
just some fame. They can fir in with the owner to some extent, Mon
?Sat. The car should be tidy but not immaculate. The engine bay will
only get a quick small shot, so don?t worry about that too much. Any
volunteers, please phone Richard direct, ASAP.
I am helping him with the text and Martin will provide info on spares.
The article may not be out for several months, so don?t hold your
breath. But its all good publicity.
Best regards
Chris Parnham

Subject: Practical Classics needs your help!
Hi,
My name is Richard Dredge and I do all the major buying guides for
Practical Classics magazine. The next one I've been asked to do is one
on the De Lorean, and I'm contacting you to ask for help in two ways.
The first (and probably the most difficult) is to track down a car that
I can put into the studio - these photos (and these photos only) will be
used to illustrate the six-page feature. The problem is that I need a
car which is in very good condition (it doesn't need to be concours) and
to original spec. The big problem (potentially) is that I try where
possible to use the studios at the National Motor Museum, in Beaulieu.
The owner will have to take the car to the studio and have a day out on
us. Although we don't pay a fee for the use of the car, we will pay
costs. The owner will of course get a copy of the magazine and their car
will be photographed across six pages of it. But the biggest draw is
that a photoshoot at Beaulieu costs over £400, and the car's owner will
get a copy of all the pictures taken, on a CD-ROM. As the photographer
uses a medium format digital camera, everything will be available for
the owner to do with what they like (although they won't own the
copyright of course).
Naturally, nobody except the car's owner will be driving the car, and
the only pictures taken are in the studio - there's no photography of
the car being driven on the road.
After that, the rest is quite easy! The other thing I need help with is
putting together some text that is comprehensive and accurate. I can
usually get started but need some guidance on quite a few areas such as
the best specialists, books and websites. Parts prices and availability
is also another area that's in there.
If you think you can help me, could you please let me have a contact
number so that I can ring you. Alternatively, my home number is 01905
775 539.
Regards,
Richard Dredge
