I'm sure if I remember correctly, if you get underneath the left hand front wheel arch (remove wheel) then you can pop up the rubber blanking plug for the top of the brake fluid reservoir, then use a stretched out coat hanger with a small bend in the end to act like a U shaped hook, to pull the bonnet release mechanism (and use some luck)
I am sure this was covered with a nice diagram in a Deloreans magazine tech column.
