Whilst i wasnt actually refering to any suppliers particular
alternator, only the OEM to Aftermarket debate that rumbles on on
various newgroups and whos alternator is the 'best to go for'...Yes
it is very strange that one, im assuming this is the same type of
alternator you are now selling as a replacement on your site. All i
will say ,now you have brought it up is that we couldnt get it to
work or fit correctly on my car , one reason being due to
its 'larger' size and the fact the belt i had previously bought from
you wouldnt get taught enough because the alternator was hitting the
side of the engine bay. With a shorter belt i obtained, i then got
no output voltage from it. Even had two other people check this out
for me... Anyhow despite the mystery, Im pleased it is now running
for you.

The one i was supplied with my origional new pick up hose etc may as
well have been the size of a 1p piece , this being the effective
surface area of the suction through it, Still feel a lot of people
have this 'pancake' filter in the tanks may be worth updating this.

Mine must be the 'newer' one as it definatly does ...

Again mine does sit flush with the base the cross piece underneath
is slightly recessed to get this to do it. maybe he had his earlier
ones and return line updated with a newer type i have.

Be intersting to work this out, not sure how to thou :) , my filter
still sits in bottom of the tank just not now in the dead centre, (
im assuming the old baffle arrangement is?... ) still it is more or
less still central with a baffle round it to retain the fuel....

I have  managed to drive 40+ miles on the fuel light because I had
to, not

Never tried it , but with my lesser volume baffle arrangement i must
be able to squeeze a few extra drops in there :)

On the occasions i have had to run down to the 'light' ive not
noticed any problems but like i say it wasnt going uphill on the
moors... I suppose if the origional arrangement is prone
to 'singing' below half full then its obviously best not to run the
fuel down that low... yes its not always practical not to do so.

(Obviously my new pick up hose is very short )

Kind of knew your trip would have been a hotter one abroad :) ,but
it was pretty damm hot on sunday here on the moors (still very
unusual for this country)... i've yet to try out this baffle
arrangement on the continent ....not sure when that will be  :)

Interesting if this heat generated is all by the engine or does the
fans blowing back from the radiator help compound the problem. The
old debate on the rad fans / tank shield goes on ....

Yes of course just good discussion ... .

...and after my previous pickk up hassles im still very happy with
my aftermarket solution :)

So when is this Lotus thingy then ??
