GAYDON INFORMATION


Hi everyone,

As promised, here are some vital statistics concerning the Supercar Sunday event at Gaydon on June 19th. As I mentioned in an earlier post, Chrispy is away that weekend, so heâs passed on the job of organising the event to me. Gaydon will be quite generous to the DOC, as long as we can get organised fairly sharpish and let them know whatâs going on. The easier we make it for the organisers, the more freedom and perks we get.

TURNING UP AND DISPLAYING
Iâve spoken to the organisers about the fact that we werenât happy with being shoved at the back out of sight last year. They said the basic reasoning behind it was the fact that the show opens to the public at about 10am but our convoy procession into the display area was at 12pm. This would have left a huge empty space in the car arena for a couple of hours before we turned up and the organisers felt they couldnât really afford to do that. Plus it would piss of other car clubs. So we have a couple of choices: we can either do the convoy procession earlier (at about 10am) and get a prime display spot, or do it at 12pm like last year and get a less prominent display area. Of course, we can always drop the idea of the convoy altogether. Then some of us can turn up early to secure the display space and those travelling from further afield can turn up at their leisure. Iâve got to phone Gaydon later this week and tell them what our plan is, so what should we do? 


TICKETS
When I spoke to the organisers, they said that although most clubs get a fixed maximum of 12 free vehicle passes, they would make a special concession to the DOC and give everyone who turns up in a DeLorean free entry. Again though, they need to know what is going on in terms of numbers. I told them there would be provisionally 20 cars turning up, but a definite number would be good. So far we have 8 definitely signed up.

We were initially offered some free adult passes to club members (i.e. those not bringing cars). I donât know if this offer still stands after they made the offer about unlimited car passes, but Iâll try and get some free adult passes too. Please e-mail me privately about this BEFORE THE END OF THIS WEEK.
