  Thanks for advice, all.  I tried botching together a puller, but the wheel's 
  *well* stuck on - to the point of stripping a couple of threads out of the 
  'puller' bolt holes - the degree of 'stuck'ness is obviously tougher than 
  the casting itself.

  God knows how they got it on here 24 years ago.  They must have borrowed a 
  steam hammer from Harland and Wolffs.

  So, in the end, I tried Phill's method, which seems to have worked.  Many 
  thanks to Rich Hutchinson who turned up just at the right minute (on an 
  unrealted subject!) and got roped in to help!!! Most helpful chap.

  Going to Ireland in it this weekend.  Keep your eyes peeled for RHL509X on 
  tour!  Should be getting the boat on Friday midday to Dublin, and back on 
  Tuesday.  Wish me luck.  Does anybody have any recommendations (other than 
  the obviousl oil and water etc) before a long trip?

  Sorry I'll miss the Northern meet-up - I may have some photo's from Dunmurry 
  ready for the next meet though!!!
