Mike,
I've never experienced a clicking sound from the accelerator on any of
the 6 Minis I've driven - the only thing I think it could be is the back
of the accelerator pedal hitting its mounting when you floor it, but
that doesn't explain it on the way back up...
All Minis now do come with a rev counter as standard, and even when they
didn't, it was part of a £100 pack which also included front fog lights,
silver dash and lots of other bits and pieces - not exactly a huge
expenditure.
Fair enough your E36 might get more looks than the Minis you've driven
but it's a poor comparison - when I'm driving my Delorean or one of my
other classic cars, they get more looks than the Mini and I'm guessing
that they'd get more looks than an E36. :-)
The Mini does get more looks than most small cars eg clio, polo, fiesta
etc. and my Mini in particular gets even more - black car w/ bodykit,
black 18" wheels, black windows, driving lights on the grille, flames on
the headlights and side vents...
I think we'll have to agree to disagree on this one (with both of us
knowing we're right :-) ) and get back to discussing Deloreans.
