John/Group
I have just caught up on several posts including your 'short driver'
comments, with which I fully sympathise!
Check the allignment of the binnacle, having taken mine out a couple
of times (to replace the bulbs etc) it is very easy to refit without
getting it seated correctly, casuing it to point down. Just be
careful not to try and use the screws to force an angle change or you
risk damaging the fibreglass.
Getting the pitch of the steering wheel is critical, I have found
that pretty much any comfortable driving position for instrument
viewing/seating/pedal depression, renders the front of the car
invisible.
A new product for someone, matching DMC leather covered booster
cushions?
As for the mirrors, Halfords will cut you wide lens glass, with outer
zone of convex glass and your choice of normal/anti-glare (blue
tint). They need a paper template, cut around the glass itself. My
Golf has exactly the same arrangement, so you should be able to see
an example in any car park!
My local Halfords store insists on having the glass so that they do
it in store. I am trying to 'borrow' the glass from a couple of
sources. I may try a different branch to see if a precut cardboard
cutout will suffice.
>From memory ~£18 each.
My posts from a couple of months ago resulted in good advice for how
to attach the new glass over the top of the existing mirror.
