Have you got a mate with an air compressor and impact wrench that could getthis off? May save time in the long run. You could alsy try the leakproof back wrapped round it and fill it with penetrating oil and let it soak for a couple of days. Good luck anyway, stick metal can be a right pain. All the best, Nick. dickyh11 <dickyh11@xxxx> wrote: Well I thought since I have 1274 up on ramps doing the tank, chassis, track rod ends, steering boots, fans and fuel vapour hose I might as well have a look at the angle drive while I'm at it. The square section that pokes through the center of the wheel hub can't be turned by hand so I assume the angle drive is duff. The little plastic thing that fits in the wheel hub has a very round looking square hole. The square section at the end of the speedo cable that screws into the angle drive also can't be turned, so I assume that is seized too. With the track rod disconnected and the car up on ramps gives acres of room to work in. With my newly puchased enormous 32mm spanner I have loads of leverage around the nut - will it come undone? Will it buggery. I've tried eveything. Heating it, hitting it, easing oil, hitting it harder, freezing it, hitting it _really_ hard with a big hammer, extension bars you name it. I've given it so much welly I was beginning to get worried about damaging the suspension somehow. I'm assuming it doesn't have some silly reverse thread on it, so is there some clever secret to undoing these things or am I going to have to resort to taking the whole hub carrier off the car to give it some serious stick?
