Scott, I can't speak for the other magazines, but ours is all done with voluntary (unpaid) labour, right from members sending in articles and photo's. It takes Andy 3 months of part time work preparing the next issue. He then has to collect it from the printers and bring copies to me and then Drive up to Dave, with the labels I've just printed off ( at the very last minute, to include all the latest members) . Then Dave had to label and stamp the envelopes (takes at least a day) then get them all posted out. It all takes loads of effort and has to be fitted in between paying work. So in a Nutshell, we aim to get our mag out roughly, In Feb/March, May/June, Aug./Sept. and Nov./Dec. That is 4 times a year. This year we have managed that. We also have to fit in intermediate "flyers"/ Newsletters as and when required. To do this somewhere in the 8 week period is achievable, to tie it down to a particular part of a particular month is not really practicable. Speaking personally, over the Christmas "holiday" I will spend several days tending my works computer printing off all my year end figures and getting things ready for my accountant. In my spare time I will prepare and print out 300 odd renewal reminders, except for the few folk who have already renewed ( thank you) . Enjoy your turkey and brussels boys and think of me slaving away in study! Chrusty I've just had a thought Scott, you could "stock pile" your mags, unopened and just open one ever few weeks.....that would sort the job out! -----Original Message----- From: Scott Mueller [mailto:scott.a.mueller@xxxx] Sent: 19 December 2003 00:31 To: scott.a.mueller@xxxx Subject: [doc] DeLorean Related Magazines This month, I have received all of the DeLorean related magazines that I subscribe to. I had a crazy thought. Why don't all of you magazine publishers figure out a way to stager your publications so that they are delivered during different months. I would like to get a magazine every month rather than all of them within the same week. What do the rest of you think?
