RE: [doc] The work begins...



The gearbox will just sit happily once the engine is removed, (as Frenchy
has been for the last two weeks), but being unsupported by the engine, it
sits about 4" lower, with the bell housing resting on the chassis cross
member. Technically I suppose it's putting a bit of extra twisting strain
on the gearbox mounts, but nothing to worry about. (I have just been out and
re-checked!) I could of course slipped in a piece of 3"x2" between the two
had I thought about it.

I normally stick a trolley jack under the gearbox during removal and
re-fittings of the engine, to ensure good alignment.
