It was not that unique in industry in the 1980's. I used to "rest my eyes" myself, occasionally at 3 o'clock in the morning when I was a shift analyst! But I never actually went to bed! I believe its normal in the fire service even now. Anyway, he said that he knew the factory was going to close when it opened becaise of the workers attitude. He heard people saying 'I dont give a s**t, its only americans money', etc. He also said that there was matresses on top of the lockers, where some workers would sleep off their shifts.
