On the work I've done with the epoxy paint, I also covered with
hammerite to get the right colour. I dropped a spanner on said bit a few
days later and it chipped the hammerite strait off exposing the still
intact epoxy underneath. I know which I'd rather have under the car
getting hit by road debris.
The Rally guy restores old Fords.

The key with painting is preperation, preperation, preperation and
lots of coats following the instructions. With Hammerite if it is
overcoated at the wrong times etc... then it won't be at it's best
but a few coats on a well prepared surface should be fine.
