VIN #4400 update

Hi all,
As we seem to be doing a summing up of our recent activities with our beloved cars, I thought I'd fill you all in with what's been going on with LHJ 58W (Vin #4400, LHD Grey manual). 

Since the ROOM 501 meet up in early May, LHJ has been sat in the garage looking less than complete: she has no louvre or engine cover at the moment as they are both having work done. The louvre is actually ready to be picked up from the bodyshop after a full refurb and repaint and tonight I put a layer of primer on the grilles on the lower engine cover. When the louvre was removed, I noticed one of the brackets/hinges was stressed and cracked so I've sourced a replacement second hand one. The other one was fine though so I lovingly repainted it today. 

Big, big thanks goes to Claire Usher for sending me my gas struts last week. I put them on the car last night and hey presto, no torsion bar adjustment needed! The doors also open much slower now and don't do that horrible bounce at the top, which is great!

In other news, I fitted my new UK headlights today (my car had European headlights from when it used to live in Germany) and I replaced the screws with stainless ones. I also picked up some stainless screws for the side markers today, but am yet to fit them. Incidentally if anyone needs some spare screws for either the headlights or sidemarkers, just drop me an e-mail; the screws I removed are perfectly serviceable and most of them have been painted with black hammerite by yours truly so should be fairly corrosion resistant.
