Update on PSOs work so far...

Hello All,

The Delorean list has been very quiet these last few weeks,
you must all be enjoying that sunny weather, and so you should be. As
some of you will know already, PSO (aka Lola , VIN#6986, PSO 69W, RHD
GRY MNL) is currently undergoing a fairly major engine rebuild at
"Martin and Daves" Delorean restoration centre, based in Stevenage at
present. The work is going excellently, Martin rang me up today full of
pride with how the work is going on PSOs engine and frame. The small
pealing rear section of the frame has now been epoxy painted and sealed
giving hopefully another 20 years of protection against the elements.
The engine is stripped down to the block and the engine bay looking
awfully empty. The water pump was found to be a goner (RIP) and one of
the cylinder heads, holding water!! The oil in the system was also half
water half oil, not good. PSO has been running pretty badly since the
day I first received her (not surprising given all that unwanted water),
but it was rare that I ever got any way to compare her against another
car, so I put up with the problems she had. I recommend to others to
have a full "Gutkowski" report undertaken on your car, just so you can
see if there are horrible problems lurking, best sorted out. I've been
driving a car with 25% less power than the usual 130HP of the stock car,
due to the now obvious engine problems. With the Volvo upgrade parts
going in and the cat coming out, I should be driving a 170HP full power
car within the next few weeks, a fact I still can't believe. My tabs
were loose, but are going to be replaced, so cornering should be more
pleasurable too. The alloys are going to be removed, sent off for
sandblasting, painted a nice clean silver, then clear lacquered. The
whole electrics system is getting a check and fix, form doors to windows
to mirrors to courtesy lights, the whole lot, because Martin has an
expert touch in that area. The interior is also being looked at for
touch ups, along with exterior glitches and scrapes.

All in, she will drive beautifully, look good and work
properly. Those of you that are like me in that you don't have the time
to work on your car personally, due to work issues, should book their
car in with Martin and Dave at least for an overall car check, to see
what you should be addressing in the near future. It will probably be
the best investment you'll make for your car. I understand that Martin
and Dave will aim to be restoring import Deloreans for UK people to
purchase. I can only imagine that these are going to be well worth a
look if you or a friend are considering buying a Delorean one day. Keep
an eye out for PSO at future shows to see just how good Martin and Daves
work is. I'm itching to get in her and floor those 170 horses, but I'll
let Dave and Martin decide when she's ready, after all, they'll be the
first to test her ability on the road, not me, so that they can tune and
balance the engine. When is the first car show within the next month?
I'll be there showing her off there.

Kind regards to all,

Stephen.
