Hi Nick I think Martin knows about a replacement for the R12, I think it was a previous posting. I always have issue with re-gassing , my personal view is that the re-gassing should not be required if all the hoses are o/k. If you re-gas all that happens is the gas goes the same place the original went, out ! They use UV marker die that shows where it is leaking. I had an old granada once and I was told then that the gas is at very high pressure when it is running, this is when it leaks out. Also I was told that the clutch will not engage if the gas level is low as this knocks out the compressor. Apparently the gas helps the special refrigerant oil to lub things up. I dont know if the same applies to the De though. I have yet to check my air con the clutch comes for 2 secs and goes off for 3 seconds I felt the high pressure side of the compressor and it did not appear to be that cold, I only left it on for 5 mins though. Let me me know how you proceed, it will be interesting. Regards Kevin #5959 [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
