Re: [doc] reluctant starting

Hi Tony

If it is the hot start problem common to the DeLorean, then flooding wouldn't be a symptom as that is caused by a vapour lock.

I am more inclined to wonder if they have reconnected all the vacuum advance piping as per a stock engine. On Rich's twin, the vac advance to the distributor has been disconnected and plugged. This prevents the timing being advanced when hot to compensate for the turbo.

One very quick test would be to try the hot-start quick fix I detailed a couple of days ago - does that get it started? They *think* the engine is being flooded, but is it really?

Let me know if this helps - if not I'll pass on Darren Bowker's details for your mechanic. He should be able to help, in between moaning on about these engines not being suitable for turboing :-)

I guess this is a question for Martin, since it probably involves
accumulators and cold start plugs and relays. My engine is back together
and running well when hot, but the garage report that, although it generally
starts first pull from cold, if it subsequently stalls it is very difficult
to restart and appears to be flooding. Once properly warmed up it is no
problem stopping and starting the engine. They are fed up with having to
remove the plugs to dry them out. Can you tell what might be the matter, or
what I should check?
