Idle speed motor, you say. What is it for and is it dangerous if it buzzes? I also have to tell that when I started the car, the car idled fine around 775 rpm...so if its the idle speed motor that buzzes, WHY does it do this? Whilst bench testing my old one today it made that electric/transformer type hum, that was due to the fact it was seized and the motor was straining to turn. Not too loud though and you would not be able to hear it over the noise of an engine at idle. > > Cheers > Paul > > #6463 > http://www.paul.salsbury.btinternet.co.uk > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Jan van de Wouw > To: doc-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > Sent: Sunday, February 23, 2003 6:29 PM > Subject: Re: [doc] Buzzing from engine > > > On 23-02-2003 18:28, Stian Birkeland <delorean@xxxx> wrote: > > > Yet again - are you guys sure it is the frequency valve? > > When I first heard the buzz, I immediately thought of the coil, but > > no sound there/no sound on the right hand of the engine compartment. > > > > I'm positive that this sound comes from somewhere around the cold > > start valve - are there any other "gadget" around that area which > > could cause the buzz. > > Couldn't this be the Idle Speed motor? > > Jan van de Wouw > > Thinking Different...
