Paul, I'm glad Dave sorted you out pretty quick, he does do if he's got the bits to hand, and if works not too pressing! I know he sometimes forgets things when he's very busy, I have always ended up with what I needed eventually. Both Dave and I spend a fortune on parts when they "pop up". Dave recently spent over 7K just on body panels, which will take YEARS to get his money back, earlier, I did the same with seat covers, after 2 years I have recovered about 15 % of my outlay. I'm not too fussed because I know in the fullness of time, these parts will be highly prized, when our cars are worth 25K upwards..... Another reason that sometimes annoys both me and Dave is when one is "taken advantage off" , some one contacts you, "all in a rush", I MUST HAVE THIS BIT by tomorrow morning, we oblige, and then it takes weeks, sometimes months to get the money! Sometimes the money never does come!! Not good. We rely on trust and helpfulness in a small club, occasionally its gets forgotten or abused. Anyway, that's my Sunday sermon over. The problem was the in no way shape or form would my gearstick lift to go into reverse, and the pin was missing to stop you accidentally going into reverse when shifting 1st to 2nd. I priced up a new mechanism with the US vendors $354. ouch.... On the phone to Dave Howarth the other night and my problem came up in conversation. To which Dave replies I got one of those in the garage. Good price.. So I asked him to send it. 9:30 this morning it arrived, 9:45 I decided to tackle the job. 10:30 job done. I can now happily shift from 1st to 2nd without fear destroying my gearbox catching reverse at 25mph.
