Chris The Scan player has lots of features and is fine for a 'first timer' also you get an A4 sheet with clear instructions on how to make it multi region tho like I said you get what you pay for. A Pioneer or Sony cost £300/£400 for an equivalent to the Scan and will have superior picture quality.
