Paul,

My daily drive is a Calibra Turbo. I've owned two. They both came out of th=
e factory turbo'd... and both had problems. As do Skyline's and Scooby's and=
any other turbo'd car.. and they were DESIGNED to take em... the Delorean w=
as not.. and yes, I'm well aware of twin turbo's!

Right. Any turbo application, being it a Ford Fiesta or a DeLorean is gonna=
cost more than £3k if you let a company do it for you (say, Turbo Technics.=
..). If you do it yourself you're better off buying another Delorean ... ano=
ther project car perhaps.

Things to bear in mind...

Single turbo.. no. Twin, yes. The Delorean has two manafolds and the piping=
is much simpler and efficient in this setup (again, Rich and Martin know th=
is). Get the turbo as close to the manifold as possible.. less spooling up t=
ime, less lag. Easy eh.
(One turbo is cheaper and with space at a premium I'd guess that's why ther=
e are more of these applications)

The stock engine won't take more than 6PSI for long periods (so I'm told)..=
my Calibra boosts at 9 and peeks at 16PSI and that's stock...
So you aren't really looking at huge power hikes without huge internal work=
... 175Bhp? (US spec?)
You could get more from porting/polishing/exhaust etc and it'd be reliable.=

You'd be better off getting a wrecked Renault Alpine GTA Turbo or A610 (gol=
d dust) and doing an engine swap... same engine but ENGINEERED to take the t=
urbo - plus well over 250Bhp and will probably drop (nearly) straight in. I'=
ve looked at a couple and look the same as ours.

Most of that is opinion.. Martin and Rich know quite a bit more about the t=
win turbo setup than I do... as does the Diesel centre I'd imagine!

That said (only opinion!).. if there was a safe, well put together applicat=
ion for the Delorean I'd be interested but... other than the Island kit I do=
n't know of one.

Speak to a turbo specialist (generally) for a better idea of what to expect=
.

One other thing is to get hold of a turbo'd car, drive it hard, stop, open =
the bonnet and look at the glowing manifold and wonder if you'd want that in=
your Delorean engine bay.

Rich... what is yours like? Any heat problems?

Dan (opinion.. opinion.. opinion!)
