RE: Exhausts

List.

Following discussions between Martin Gutkowowski and a specialist exhaust
manufacturer in Nottingham, England. I drove my "Delores" up to their
factory on Thursday. We put my car on the lift and it was given a good
inspection. I discussed options with them and looked at some of the fancy
Ferrari systems being made ( cost about £3,000) !

Whilst I was there, they showed me a set of water pipes, also made out of
staginess for a Ferrari. They looked very similar to our DeLorean ones. they
would be quite happy to quote for them.

I envisage ( although it could all be altered) A silencer looking similar to
the current one, mounted on the same brackets. Fed by two new s/s exhaust
manifolds, facing the back of the car, going into the silencer at each end,
with the outlet pipes for the silencer and exhaust tips looking standard.
( large angle cut tips). The Cat would be done away with, as would the cross
over exhaust pipe that currently goes over the "Inboard" end of the engine.
This would have the advantage of vastly improving the exhaust gas flow. It
also has the added benefit of not heating up all the rubber fuel pipes!

The whole system would be in polished stainless steel. We can individually
choose our own preferred choice of "loudness" , personally I am going for a
loud one as its for my BTTF one.

They will need a car for about 2 weeks, to strip off the old system and make
the new master system, with all its patterns.

They are very busy and can't fit me in till July 22nd. I will be taking my
new BTTF LHD Auto in.

They tell me that it needs a minimum order of batches of about 5 systems to
make it cost effective.
I will have two, Martin is having another....any other volunteers?

The cost will be about £800 each ( 800 pounds) plus shipping.

My son-in -law , who tunes engines for a living, tells we that "Gas flowing"
the cylinder heads and sorting out the exhaust system, will have a dramatic
effect on the performance.

This post is primarily aimed at UK members, but if any of USA boys want one
we would be looking at about $1200 will shipping.( contact me direct

As a matter of interest, the "Don Lander" personal RHD car, in the "Patrick
Collection", reg number, originally, AXI 1697, now SOA 82Y, vin number 5565,
has a similar system, very crudely done, see DOC UK website for photo's next
week.
