RE: [doc] Where has my PRV power been?

Title: Where has my PRV power been?
My girlfriend and I are hoping to be in the North of France this weekend, which means we'll be using the Monday too. Could you explain more about the injectors? I had a feeling it was down to faults, dirt etc, but wasn't sure about timing, could you explain more. Is this effectivily tuning?

Hi Steve

The costof the remote starter (Ultrastarters 2250M) is $99 from www.mypushcart.com - the 1250M is also available for $69 which is the same but without the siren.

I havenot looked at length into the door launchers yet but the actuators I hope to use are £40 each - this may sound like a lot but the place I'm getting themfrom "have not found a task these actuators couldn't handle". I rang them yesterday and asked about the size and they may be a bit big. I'll probably buy oneand have a go at getting my drivers door working.

Having the boot, engine cover and one or both doors work is a bit too much for the interface I've designed (it'd work, it's just be a bit impractical to use). I could do it more easily with the higher models in the Ultrastarter range though. Bearin mind that the engine cover and boot would also require an actuator each, so you're looking at £160 just for actuators.....

As to the power loss - I reckon it was caused by having put my metering head on Rich's car, filling it full of injector cleaner and whatever crap was floating in Rich's at the time, then putting it back on mine resulted in one or more of the injectors getting clogged. It cleared itself on the way back from McDonalds just after you left. It's still at its quickest when cold though.

James has subsequently had a similar problem and a new set of injectors cured all ills and his now goes like sh!t off a shovel too. I suggest you check your injector pattern - it's soemthing we could have done this w/e. Are you away all w/e including monday?

Your fuel pump is fine.

Martin,

how much would your system cost intotal? I'd love to have it fitted to my car when you've perfected yours. Door launchers, remote engine starter, boot launcher, remote locking and alarm, all sounds too good to be true:)

Martin, remember when we were in your car, and you couldn't work out why there was a sudden loss of power? Did you find out what that was? Remember I told you that my Delorean felt underpowered compared to yours. Well recently I've started getting these funny "power boosts" while accelerating in 2nd or 3rd, almost like the engine is clearing its throat. I am only now realising that I've been driving the car with a constant injection problem, and these "power boosts" are the car giving me an indication of the power that should be available. Can anyone give me some ideas about how to trouble shoot this problem, and restore my PRV power?? Its the difference between a 0-60mph of around 11 seconds, and a 0-60mph of 8 seconds. I can't believe I've been driving with so little power available, and still enjoying myself:)

Ideas please, what needs cleaning out? Or perhaps the fuel pump is faulty? Sure as hell I'm not sure myself:)
