Cheers mate
It was only a small deer, and I was damn lucky it went under rather than
over. I fully expected the front spoiler to be broken, but that appears
to have bounced too. I actually found myself thinking how lucky I wasn't
in the Xantia!!! (although that has enormous bumpers which are mounted
on big rubber bushes - bloke ran into the back of me in his MX5 last
year. Caused a couple of scratches to a £20 part (Citroen had the sence
to make the corners of their bumpers seperate from the rest!) but caused
more than £700 damage to his front wing. Also a tribute to the Xantia's
brakes.)
In all honesty, the bang the animal made was probably no worse than what
I do when I'm thumping the grill back into place, it just sounded really
bad in the cockpit!

Considering the speed you were going your car got off lightly! Even 30mph can be nasty with an animal like a deer. Someone here at work hit a deer with their Alfa GTV and it needed extensive work (new bonnet, and some straightening of the bulkhead at the front of the chassis)... a tribute to good engineering, even after 20 years eh!
More happy to hear you're alright than the car though...
