Dear All,
as many of you will have heard, I'm the proud owner of Daves third Delorean, PSO 69W. For those that don't know the car that well, it is a November 81' car, manual, grey interior, and is a right hander. To say that I am pleased with the car would be the understatement of the century, I am over the bloody moon:) Being one of Daves cars, it was in beautiful condition outside, and inside, and has relatively few glitches that can't be fixed with little hassle. My list of present problems to fix includes....
1)Heating/Defrosting/Airconditioning system (When turned on to
demist the car, the blower blows like crazy, but no air comes out anywhere,
not from any of the vents...doesn't matter what setting you put the system
on, no air ever comes out the vents, but the fan is going like crazy..this
is mystifying me right now...any ideas?)
2)Steering needs to be centered, as at present you have two and a
half locks to the left, and one to the right!! Is this common with right
hander conversions?
3)Handbrake cable needs replacing, as at present, the handbrake does
not work at all.
4)Brakes need to be cleaned down, and tightened up, as they are very
fluffy at present.
5)Back right brake light not working.
6)Headlights too weak on low beam, I currently drive with full beam
on at night, at all times, even on full beam I don't get too many pissed off
drivers. How much would Xenon lights cost for the Delorean, are any
available?
7)Left side door needs to be tightened by a notch or two, as it
droops below the right side by about 40cm.
8)Dave disconected the interior lights, and the door lights, and I'm
not sure which cables I should be reconnecting, so have left it so far,
until I chatted to Dave, but if anyone else knows which cables need to be
connected to where, would be appreciated. I wondered if this disconnected
cable could be the reason for the non existantant heater functionality.
9)And last but not least, where is the bonnet release? I have been
using the emergency bonnet release cable up until this point. I'm sure that
it is somewhere very obvious, but please could someone let me know.
10) Once this is all finished, and I've given the car a final polish
down, and dressing, it will be, for want of a better word, Perfect:)
So there you go. PSO 69W. A beautiful car, that was worth every
penny I paid. I'd just like to thank a number of people for getting me to
this stage. Martin, cheers for all the help and advice, and there was a huge
amount too. Thanks to Dave for being so patient while I was sorting out
funds and insurance for PSO, and cheers to everybody else on DOC-uk for the
advice and help they offered me over the past three months. Finally, Chris,
the cheque and order form for the newsletter was sent before Christmas, and
I'm a little worried it hasn't got to you by now. I'll cancel that cheque
and resend a new one to you this week, saves waiting any longer.
As for the coming year, I'm looking forward to some Delorean trips
around the South of England, and hopefully many opportunities to show off my
fantastic car. Can you believe I was going to buy a BMW 325 Coupe before,
how boring that would have been in comparison, and how much would I have
lost in depreciation?? Doesn't bare thinking about.
If anyone has any ideas about my list of 10) problems to fix, please
email me with any information you have. Once again huge thankyous to
everyone, and I look forward to meeting up with our cars soon,
regards,
Stephen Strelczak
Delorean PSO 69W.

I think Stephen was slack not joining at the show - but he did help
dismantle the stand :-) I'm really looking forward to PSO
living an hour down the M4 - Stephen and I have already made tentative plans
for some days out in our D's!
I just gave mine a wash. It got a bit grubby on the way down from Reading for Christmas. I'm mothballing it for a while a) until the roads improve and b) before i can check the trailing arm bolts. The pass side one has me a bit worried!
I've scored big-time at work - without going into it at length, I can keep
the DeLorean in our "warehouse" which is heated and
lit. If I can get weekend access to it, I can take my time and dismantle all
the bits that need attention. Fascias, seats,
dashboard, binnacle.......
Have a good New Year!
Martin
