James My speedo suddenly failed on me yesterday. I have managed to identify the problem but have not had time to put it right yet. What has happened is that the small circular (?) sprung ring that holds the angle drive to the stub axle nut has obviously failed because I can get hold of the angle drive and pull it away from the nut. The cable that goes through the stub axle is complete and ok but the fact that the AD can move sideways has meant that the end of the cable is no longer being driven by the plastic cap at the wheel end. This could be a possible answer for you.
