Dusty just "sat there" for 17 years, not coming to any harm..it still has the original brake fluid, gear box oil etc. I did of course change engine oil and filter, and gave the cooling system a real good flush out. with a hose pipe... I disconnected various hoses and keep flushing till the returned water was crystal clear...then put in about 5 pints of real good antifreeze. That's what I'd do...keep it simple..keep the costs down. I think a lot of this storage stuff on the DML is not applicable to our more moderate climate. I've been into classic cars for the last 35 years and resurrected many from long term storage After I done the ant-freeze thing....keep it dry..to be honest, I'd cover it with either a proper dust cover or old bed sheets, then cover that with a heavy gauge polythene, and tie it WELL down with bungee cord.....A spray over the engine bay with WD40 would be good too. My car is coming home in a couple of weeks for good. It's a long way from finished but unfortunatly I don't have to resource to finish it so I'm going to store it until... hmmm, 2003. Anyways... what, in your opinions, would be the fluids to drain? I'm thinking fuel, oil and coolants... maybe even braking fluids too. The car will not be run in the that time so it needs to be stored properly. The first part of it's life here will be outside so I'm open to ideas on proper car covers too. ...projectmadness is going to hibernate... say goodnight! :o( Dan Vin#5641 PS:- any other ideas would be welcome (I ain't worried about the 20 year old bald tyres sitting btw!)
