Im no locksmith guru, but can you not have 2 keys cut?
Key 1 cut on both sides from the template of one side of your original, and
Key2 cut on both sides from the template of the other side of your original.
See which one works then make duplicates?

Subject: [doc] Ignition barrel question
Ok here's a good one.
Does anybody know which side of the ignition barrel has the pins in it,
front or back ???
I ask as I'm nearing get mine MOT'ed and I'm trying to sort the door locks
out. My ignition key is not symmetrical. I can put it into the ignition
one way and it refuses to turn. Take it out and flip it over and I can turn
it.
Now I want to get a new key made that is symmetrical and get my new door
locks barrelled to match the key so I need to find out which side of the key
is correct.
Anybody got any ideas. I've had a loot into the barrel with a torch but I
cant make out the pins for the lock.
Many Thanks
Dan Shane
