Hi Thomas,
Sorry to hear about your overheat. I would keep a careful eye on
the Thermostat from now on as once you overheat it can cause
problems. I had a blocked return pipe which caused my first overheat
this then damaged the Thermostat. This coupled with one of my
head gaskets having a weak area from age/storage (basicly rotted)
caused the last more dramatic head gasket failure. On a positive
note the heads did not get hot enough to warp.
Should get my engine back together this weekend!
Best Regards

coolant was pouring out of a coolant pipe under the car. So after
filling it up with my coke bottles full of water (necessity) we made
the 1 mile drive (barely) to the off ramp and pulled up in a car
park. Unfortunatly, we had to call the RAC.

cooling system and used a small pipe which was barely long enough to
do the job, so the pipe was just hanging off. After replacing that we
had to bleed the system, and then fill her up. THEN the cooling fans
wouldnt come on so it overheated again. Once we were sure the water
was definately circling round, we decided to risk it and go home.
Fortunately, it was all motorway, and the temp. stayed normal.
