Claire was right, the very nice people at Carfax sent me a complete run down
on 5706 completely f.o.c. (i even offered to pay and they declined!)
5706 had two owners in the United States, one in Arizona until 2002 who
managed to put 12,000 miles on it in that time, and then it ended up with
DMCH who received it in a sorry state. They stripped and re-built it and
the new owner (in Texas) put about 300 miles on it before selling it again.
Regrettably, no history of thefts, car-chases or anything remotely
interesting.
I see BAKINTIM is for sale on e-bay; Auto-trader and in pistonheads.com
(probably in various other places too)
Regards
Colm

Complete bollocks. Tell them a) to ring the ministry who will confirm
that US spec imports can have the orange sidelights as long as they're
supplemented with white and b) go and look at any modern BMW or Rover
many of whom use halo headlights.
The halo headlights have no lens as such - you did use them as the high
beam only, didn't you? Beam pattern is only checked on dip-beam.
The defense rests
