All,
Just spoke to Mike on the phone about this, but for the benefit of
others...
There are three wires going to the indicator assembly
The red/ wire is the sidelight
The black wire is the common ground
The green/ wire is the indicator
(no responsibly accepted for wiring differences, you should check with a
meter first!!)
There are two ways to stop the front orange marker light illuminating,
either chop (and insulate) the red wire. Or put a small piece of tape
over one of the solder pips on the bottom of the bulb and refit it. If
you've covered the wrong pip the indicator will stop working - you need
to cover the other one instead - then after MOT you can remove it :)
There's some debate over whether having the front orange marker light
illuminated is MOT passable. Some have reported failures whilst I and
others have had it passed - I guess it depends on your inspector's
flexibility/observation.
