Robin,
I think last six ?Re-Built? would more accurate.
All the prototype and pilot cars were ?Pre-production?, basically working
test vehicles, indeed Pilot 25 had loads of unique differences from later
production cars. But after the factory went bust and all the completed and
?saleable? cars had gone off to the USA, some cars and part-completed cars
were still lurking in various corners of the factory. These were finished
off and all 6 sold at the final auction held at the factory. The Gentleman,
who bought it at the auction, is the same man that Alistair bought it off 21
years later. He categorically states that when he drove it away from the
factory, the other 5 had already gone! So this car is one of the very first
and the very last car made. It indeed is a ?Lucky ? survivor!
Pilot 25 has loads of features you?d expect on an early car, grey wheels,
gas flap, black dash, ?hand made? doors, rough texture engine bay sides etc.
Just like all the pre-vin 500 cars that went to be stored at Wooler-Hodec,
some of which some were converted to RHD. Details and photo?s in the next
magazine..
I would like to add my sincerer thanks to Paul O?Malley for driving all the
way from the South of Ireland to the North, to help Alistair get this very
special vehicle running. I for one am looking forward to seeing it at
Eurofest 2006.

Hi Alistair/All
Very intreagued by this car, I can bet you are so excited now you've
got it !
Just a query which no doubt someone can answer, if this is one of the
last 6 cars built, how come it has a very early groove hood and gas
flap ?
