Ok, the lower speedo cable turns the display!
   
  The little rod that runs off the dust cap is almost stiff :-( Does this mean my angle drive has perished?
   
  If so, how does it come off? It looks as though it might just pop out but I didnt want to damage anything else.

  Check 1 - Unplug speedo cable coming from the cluster at the point it enters the lamda counter - spin the inner bit and check if the speedo moves...if it does not you need to but a new cable, if it does move the sppedo it is fine, connect it back to where you unplugged it and try number 2!
   
  Check 2 - Unplug speedo cable from angle drive on the drivers wheel...spin with finger and check if speedo moves if it does that part of the cable is ok... it could be the angle drive broken itself!
   
  Check 3 - Spin wheel and look in to the angle drive (the bit the cable connects to) to see if its spinning...if it is not you need a new angle drive :(  I doubt very much it is your speedo but i could be wrong!!
