John, I'm a little puzzled that a 1987 car would "need" to run on leaded fuel. There's a difference between needing to and being able to run on it. The DeLorean will quite happily run on leaded as long as the cat has been removed. But it doesn't need to run on it. That has only to do with really quite older engines that do not have hardened valve seats (although this is an area I don't know much about - happy to be enlightened!). Your 87 car will not have a cat, so it will happily run on leaded fuel, but I don't think it needs to...?
