i would check also connections to and from coil (remove sand 
replace).
check HT lead is secure. check pulse connection and resistance at 
left hand fire wall/engine compartment
i assume car cranks OK.

 i think the idea that the last bit in the tank is bad...there is a 
fine filter screen in the tank, a normal fuel filter, a gauze in the 
pressure regulator and a tiny hole for fuel to spray from the 
injectors.
this to me sounds electrical.
