If the head gasket were to fail with an oil leak, which I've never heard 
of on a PRV, it certainly wouldn't leak around the water pump as the 
head gasket surface is behind the timing cover - it'd just leak down 
into the sump.

Those pressure swiches are fairly notorious, and they're only £8  :-)
