Hi Craig,
         That is one clip you can see in the photo its the tail that
makes it look like two.
 Yes, there should be clip on the pump boot in that position.
While your enjoying some fuel tank diving it would be worth
checking the fuel pick up hose that connects to the bottom of
the pump make sure its in good condition. Also check the pick up in 
the tank has all its components. 
Most important is the pick up filter.

 This was missing from my car and from Dean's and allows any
muck in the fuel to get into the pump or block it.
(This imobilised my car last January leaving me waiting
for the AA in the snow, sods law!) I like to meet the guy
who removed it without replacing it.......

Have a look at the parts manual on www.dmcnews.com to see
what should be in the tank.
