[doc] Manufacturer of stainless steel panels

AFAIK, the German manufacturer/stamper of the body panels was called
Lapple. I believe the do/did body panels for most European cars. I
don't think they shipped the panels all the way from Germany. I think
Lapple had a subsidiary in Ireland that made them for DMC Ltd. That
makes sense when you think of the presses being sold off to a local
scrap yard, then used as anchors for fish farms in Galway Bay.
Lapple hadn't any more use for them since DMC Ltd. went bankrupt.
Yet it still surprises me when I hear this story. Why didn't Lapple
look into the option of producing spare panels or take on other
offers, or auction them off? Something fishy there I believe...and
how "convenient" this must have been for the Government, ensuring
that no more DeLoreans ever be made!
What I would like to know is this - who OWNED the stamping dies?
Lapple or DMC Ltd? If it was DMC Ltd. then in the end it was the
Government who could do with them whatever they wanted. It was their
property. Shame really...
Best wishes
