I have mine fitted behind the passenger seat (Just on the wooden ridge). Its nice and tidy, and allows the driver to access it easily without having a passenger reach down to their footwell for it. Pretty sensible place really, and discrete.

  Subject: [doc] Fitting fire extinghishers
  Hi
I am paranoid that my baby will burst in to flames so have a fire
extinguisher in the car but i would like to fit one permanently.
Any suggestions as to location...any particular brand that looks good
  and will do the job.
I was thinking about 2 small ones on at opposite ends of the cargo net
  area?
  any thoughts?
