Yes i could, but like i say, we all have our own personal views on
things, like i do, you can ask around, some people have positive
views and some will have negative ones on the same thing. I find it
especially when it comes to OEM versus newly designed products...and
of course it goes without saying, just because its origional OEM is
doesnt mean its always best, amongst other things, you could take
alternators for example, been there done that too, you pay your
money and takes your choice. BTW I do still have all the new old
stock baffle bits including new OEM filter/ newer OEM baffle kit and
clips etc, all sat in a drawer just to remind me how wonderful they
all go together in a 'properly set up system'...will get round to
selling these bits on soon ....
> You must have a pickup filter that isn't blocked,
Of course but i do like the look of Specialtauto's new filter with
the inner mesh, nice idea to get maximum flow through the filter.
Think i will give it a go next time my filter needs changing in a
fraction of the time my old pick up arrnagement took.
> a baffle with only a small inlet to the rest of the tank. There
must be a base to the baffle
The newer OEM one has a base but its not part of or sealed to the
side of the baffle, it mearly sits in it but as at the end of the
day the baffle is there to retain the fuel and stop it sloshing
backwards and forwards past the filter especially when the tank is
getting low on fuel. I cant really see how Special T auto baffle
doest achieve this, especially on the occasions i have been getting
low on fuel round the hilly North Yorkshire Moors ive never had the
car 'miss' or make 'singing' noises yet .

SpecialTauto's is held down to the base by the original baffle screw
and a cross brace on the underside and holds it snugly to the bottom
of the tank, a far better fit than the OEM baffle to separate base
arrangement in my opinion.
John Hervey's setup might be simple but it
> doesn't work as well as an original one.
doesnt work as well?? Obviously in my own experience  i cant agree
with you on that statement..:)
(and what a grand OEM arrangement this all is ... there is no wonder
that so many people have endless problems with it ....i dont envy
you having to fit this set up time after time to your customers
cars...)
>I can pretty much guarantee
that in really hot weather whatever setup you have will make the
pump noisy. All the renaults use a lift pump that's actually
designed to suck

I must just be a real lucky guy on this one then... especially over
this weekend with the hot temperatures in the UK and the 400 mile
round trip i did on sunday round Aidensfield  ( sorry Goathland :) ,
fortunatley for me did not hear a rumble or 'singing' from my pump.
But at the end of the day am more than happy with the 'quietness'
and performance of my own new set up,  as you are obviously with
your own OEM arrangement?.
Just thought i would share my experience of solving a problem on my
car to others and on what seems to be a common issue to many.
Im glad you all got back ok from LeMans seems like a great trip awwy
judding by your pics. I look forward to seeing more of them and an
artical in the next mag.....Just what was Nick H pick up problem by
the way???...
BTW..... Anyone know of any more plans for the Lotus 06 venue be
nice to pen that one in on the calender what with family commitments
and all?
Kind Regards
Mike
